Trace the footsteps of heroes through historic Annapolis. Led by a Colonial guide, stroll past historic mansions, learn about life in the 18th Century and the important figures that helped make Annapolis what it is today. Explore the great halls of the Maryland State House* including the Old Senate Chamber where George Washington resigned as Commander in Chief.

2012 African-American Heritage Tour

In Partnership with the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation

Trace the rich and authentic journey of African Americans in Annapolis and explore their contributions both nationally and internationally. Key historical sites include the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Memorial (created in honor of the book "Roots") and the Thurgood Marshall Memorial.

Stroll the streets with a Civil War US Marine Lieutenant, a maid, shopkeeper or another period dressed character and experience life as a local Annapolitan in the 1860’s. Learn about the family struggles and extreme challenges of the Civil War time period as you listen to fascinating stories and about the events that unfolded in the city during the war.

As the sun sets and darkness wraps the streets of historic, and many say, haunted Annapolis, a guide will lead you on a journey sharing tales by candlelight of the spirits who dwell in the town's 18th century buildings and may still linger in the mist. Learn about drowned watermen, men who fell to their doom and women who still haunt their former residences.
